Resource: Making the Connection: Aligned Advising Case Studies
No student can successfully navigate the journey from high school to college to career on their own.
High-quality advising that is aligned across K-12 education, postsecondary education, and the workforce is critical for helping more students make successful transitions along their journey through education to career. But the connection across these systems is too often insufficient, leading to inequitable access and outcomes for students, particularly those who have been underserved by our education and workforce systems.
In 2021, Education Strategy Group (ESG) published a new framework for aligning advising across sectors to improve postsecondary access and success. Now, we’re pleased to share a new set of learnings to illustrate how key aspects of aligned advising are taking shape in the field—along with actionable recommendations for state leaders to mitigate the gaps that prevent a smoother continuum and warm handoffs for every student as they move through education toward well-paying, fulfilling careers.
