Cristina comes to ESG with over a decade of experience in education strategy, policy, and leadership. She is a dedicated advocate for equitable and high-quality learning opportunities for all students. Prior to ESG, Cristina was a Partner at TNTP, supporting states and districts in better understanding the student experience and co-designing policies and strategies to support educators, students, and their communities. She also served as the Consulting Practice Lead and a Director, spearheading the development and codification of TNTP’s equity-focused consulting practices, aligning learning, impact, and knowledge management processes with the organization’s beliefs and supporting senior district leaders in the development and execution of comprehensive academic strategies, with a particular focus on curriculum, instruction, assessments, and student supports. In earlier roles with Achieve, she worked on the national strategy to engage states and districts in implementing college-and career-ready standards and establishing national partnerships to support policy agendas aimed at preparing students for college and career.
She started her career in education as a middle school teacher in Florida. She holds Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from The George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in History, summa cum laude, from the University of Florida.
Why are you in this work?
I am from a Cuban-American family who through education and social capital were able to attend college and have meaningful careers. I believe these opportunities and conditions are possible and necessary for all young people.
Why ESG?
I care most about working with people who walk in their values and use their access and abilities to partner with communities to support and uplift young people.
